This was such a great mystery with avalanches of suspense that kept you turning pages. I had suspicions, but definitely did not see the actual outcome. This one had so many suspects I didn’t call it before it was revealed. I feel like this story telling made this story more suspenseful and definitely more interesting with each reveal.Īn important part in a mystery novel is if it’s easy to figure out what is happening. We were hearing what happen as Nora was remembering it and figuring out what to do. The jumping back and forth in the story from current time to the days leading up to it would normally bother me, but it went with the story. They all had something odd about them that made you think they had ample motivation. This wasn’t a bad thing because I feel that added to my suspicion of all of them. I don’t think I’ve ever not liked the characters so much in a book before. Ware wrote some incredibly different characters and I had strong dislike for most of them. The story mainly follows Nora as she goes off to a hen night for an old friend she hasn’t seen in ten years and it quickly spirals out of control. When I read her book The Woman in Cabin 10 I knew she was now one of my favorite thriller writers and reading In a Dark, Dark Wood with my book club did not disappoint at all.
